Course Title: Introduction to Urban Education. This course focuses on the history of marginalized groups in the United States and the effects of this history on public schools in urban and urbanizing communities. We will also discuss how history influences current issues related to the academic achievement gap, school-to-prison pipeline, school curriculum, and cultural mismatch between teachers and students in schools.
